Safety Training For Section 7 Workers at the Standard Gauge Railway Project
Apart from the daily safety talks during work hours, workers at Section 7 were taken for a safety meeting where they were trained on how to mainatin safety at the work place.
Safety at the SGR (Standard Gauge Railway) is very important. The Safety department at Section 7 arranged a safety meeting for the workers where they were trained on how to maintain safety at the work place. Of paramount importance is the safety of oneself and the workers around you.
Attendees at the meeting were informed about Electrical safety and how to attend to electrical accidents and fires caused by electrical failures. Furthermore they were taught about different types of fire extinguishers to use when arresting a fire incidents where electrical power is involved.
Workers from the mechanical and steel department were taught on how to safely work with cutting and steel bending machines. Also knowing the nearest power source when working with machines that have sharp moving blades was one of the major topics. Gloves and other safety gear was demonstrated on how they should be worn when working and when to change worn out protective clothing.
The final group were the tall structures climbers who instal roofing on tall buildings at the site. They were taught on how to strap safely when climbing high places. They were given a live demonstration on how to safely lock the ropes to ensure personal safety.
