100km/h Utility Engine Arrives At Section 7 Construction Site

The arrival of this utility engine is a clear sign that construction works have entered a whole new stage. It will be used to pull wagons and provide traction force for the track laying machine among others. This Chinese model has a max speed of 100km/h

With the construction of 4 lines at Section 7 now underway, the new utility engine could not have come at a better time. Line 1 and 2 next to the fuelling station are  complete while line 3 where the train will be placed is also done. All the lines will join at the furthest point of the site to form a single line which in-turn will link up to the SGR line.

This 100km/h utility engine arrived to day at noon and the site nearly came to a halt as all gazed at the flat-bed truck's cargo. This engine shall mainly be used to pull ballast waggons and provide the necessary traction to the track laying machine. Additional waggons are expected to arrive with time as the installation of the track layer is underway.

The inside of the engine is a large empty space with drivers control panels on both ends. It packs in a powerful diesel engine and has a neat set of steel wheels. While the driver was not present, the workers were very eager to see it in motion, nevertheless they stood there marvelling at the machine, perhaps hoping for a chance to drive it.
