Masimba Railway Station Nears Completion
Masimba Railway Station, located 6kms from Masimba Town shines in bright yellow as workers finish up the interiors. The station is raised to be on the same level with the railway. The station compound has other 4 other buildings including a substation.
Masimba Town (a.k.a Simba) is located along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, some few kilometres from Emali town on the way to Nairobi. The town is mainly a stop-over for truck drivers on the busy highway.
The old Masimba Railway station is now no longer used and stands in the shadows of the new Standard Gauge Railway which runs alongside it, raised above the ground.
Masimba residents will have a new railway station soon as the new Masimba Railway Station is complete. Workers are now busy with the interior finishing in the bright yellow building that stands out in the horizon.
This new station is next to the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, 6km before Masimba town while heading to Nairobi. The station compound has 5 buildings which cover an area of 1417.26m.sq.
These buildings include: A signal cabin for the crossing station, a 33kV Sub-station, a water pump room and 2 THDS (Trace Hotbox Detection System) sounding stations.
Masimba Railway station is located at chainage DK 327+ 600 from the Mombasa Railway Station.
